PORTLAND — Portland sandwiched three goals by Lewiston with three of their own as the two teams skated to a 3-3 overtime tie in girls’ ice hockey action in Portland Saturday afteroon.
Raechel Allen scored the first of her three goals at the 7:26 mark of the first period for the Bulldogs.
The Blue Devils (1-1) responded with a pair of first period goals from Mikaela St.Laurent and Natalie Rousseau to give Lewiston a 2-1 lead that they enjoyed through a scoreless second period.
Sarah Marden, who had assisted on St.Laurent’s first period goal scored an unassisted tally at the 4:26 mark in the third period to give Lewiston a 3-1 lead.
But, Allen would come back to nail down two unassisted goals for the Bulldogs less than two minutes apart midway through the frame and forcing overtime. Like the second period, neither team could find the back of the net in the overtime frame.
