CONCORD, N.H. — Jodie (Martin) Heath, a 1997 graduate of Oxford Hills High School, was awarded the 2010 New Hampshire Occupational Therapy Practitioner of the Year Award by the New Hampshire Occupational Therapy Association at their annual conference held on Oct. 15.

Heath is the owner and executive director of Swing for the Stars Pediatric Therapy Center in Concord, N.H. She was nominated for the award by her employees who describe her as “an ambitious clinician who provides superior quality occupational therapy direct and consultative services to children ages birth to 18.”

She has developed affiliations with local colleges in New England to offer occupational therapy students opportunities to complete their fieldwork internship experiences; provides mentorship to entry-level practitioners; provides in-services about sensory integration theory and practice to area day cares, schools, doctors offices and area agencies; organizes a monthly resource sharing group to present topics of interest to parents, practitioners and interested community members; and has established relationships with local mental health organizations where she works closely with teams of psychologists and social workers to provide sensorimotor-based psychotherapy.

In January of 2010 Heath was featured on WMUR’s New Hampshire Chronicle, a local television program featuring area businesses, to promote the field of occupational therapy and the services provided at Swing for the Stars.

She earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees in occupational therapy from the University of New England in Biddeford in 2002.
