Board: Turner Selectmen
Met: Tuesday night
Fees to increase?
Issue: Turner hasn’t raised its building permit fees since 1988.
The scoop: It might be time.
Up next: Code Officer Roger Williams will show selectmen fee comparisons with other local towns at the board’s Jan. 3 meeting. Any changes would likely be tucked into an ordinance change that would get a public hearing in January and a vote at town meeting in April. Town Manager Eva Leavitt said the Planning Board is working on a number of proposed ordinance changes.
New tables, chairs
Issue: Three tables and 30 chairs taken from the Boofy Quimby Memorial Center this fall were never returned, despite the town’s public appeal to bring them back. The center’s used by Scouts and seniors and rented out for dances and parties.
The scoop: A complete inventory of goods at the center has since been taken.
Up next: Selectmen approved using contingency funds to purchase 10 tables and 30 chairs that will be kept under tighter security.
Holiday hours
Issue: The town office will be closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 for the holidays.
Issue: The transfer station will also close the next two Saturdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. It’s still open Tuesdays and Fridays.
