DEAR SUN SPOTS: Four photo albums were found on the Lisbon Street steps of Holy Cross Church on Monday, July 12, 2010. They contain announcements and photos from many weddings at St. Peter’s Church, probably in the 1950s.

One album is exclusively cards from an infant boy’s first year (1957). Another album is devoted to a travelogue from “Our Trip to New York City” in September 1952 and contains many photos and playbills.

Unfortunately there is no clear indication of the owner of these albums. We have tried through various parishioners to discover the owner and return the albums.

If anyone can assist us or if these albums belong to you, please contact me at the parish office. Thank you. — Pat Gavula, patricia.gavula@portlanddiocese.org, 777-1200

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In the Dec. 30 column, M.C. from Portland asked about the Steve Tabb Trio with Dick Demers on drums and Jeff Wade or Roger Renaud on sax. Also they had a long stay at the Royal Hotel in Lewiston.

Steve passed away about six years ago but left us all with a little of his talents. He is missed by musicians who knew him. Dick still teaches drums, Jeff still plays in southern Maine and Roger is now still very much active playing in the Lewiston area and St. Pete’s, Fla. — Roger Renaud, Lewiston, lahorns@aol.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Nov. 25, 1975, the newspaper published a story about my father and grandfather with a photo of them in Norway about having hunted together for 30 years. I am trying to get a copy of this picture and story if possible from your archives.

Actually, the three of us (three generations) hunted together for almost 20 years. My grandfather shot his last deer at the age of 91 and died about a year later. With the passing of this past November it made me think of him. I would like to acquire a copy of the story and picture for my wall. If you could assist me in any way, I would greatly appreciate it. — Mike Ross, Windham, mtaross@hotmail.com

ANSWER: Sun Spots addressed all aspects of retrieving old stories in her Friday, Dec. 17, column (www.sunjournal.com/sun-spots/story/957507). You may wish to refer to that.

Unfortunately, printed copies of stories as old as yours are only available via microfiche. The Lewiston Public Library, 200 Lisbon St., has most of those on file. You may visit its website, www.lplonline.org, or call 513-3004, to be sure it has the date you require before you visit.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Community of Christian Women in Phillips thanks all those who supported the Children’s Shopping Day, both in time, items and money. Donations were received from Weld, Rumford, Strong, Phillips, Avon and Madrid. Fifty-six children ages 3 to 12 from seven towns were served. Our adult sitter, Winona, reported that the adults were busy making their Santa wishes known.

To expedite 2011, we are asking that anyone who has gift bags and gift items to donate to this project, please drop them off at Phillips Hardware or the Phillips Elementary School. Please call me if you have any questions. Again, thanks to everyone for their support and participation. — Nana Haines, Phillips, 639-4526

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Knights of Columbus thank the Sun-Journal, Sun Spots and all their readers for their generosity in our second annual Knights Before Christmas Toy Drive. This year, we were able to furnish gifts for several hundred children in foster care and state care in the tri-county area. A heartfelt thank you is extended to each and everyone of you! — Roger Roy, Lisbon Falls, randcroy@yahoo.com
