Board: Sabattus selectmen
Met: Tuesday night
Foreclosures
Issue: The town is mailing foreclosure notices on Jan. 14 to property owners who have been delinquent on taxes since 2009.
The scoop: About 48 notices are set to go out.
Up next: Owners can settle up with the town before Jan. 14 and avoid an extra filing fee or act by March 1 with that filing fee.
Visa welcome
Issue: Using a system called Point & Pay, the Town Office hasn’t been able to accept Visa from residents looking to pay bills such as taxes or car registration with their debit or credit cards.
The scoop: The office is switching to the Visa-capable Informe. Transaction fees will also go down, from 2.95 percent with Point & Pay to 2.5 percent with Informe.
Up next: The switch will happen in about two months.
Assorted
Issue: Selectmen thanked Mixers owner Mike Yohe for collecting about 240 toys over the holidays at his bar and club. After helping two families, Yohe donated the rest of the toys to the Town Office.
Issue: Until Sabattus develops a new policy, whenever the state or county offices close due to bad weather, the Town Office and transfer station will close, too.
Issue: The local Republicans’ meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at the Town Office. They meet about monthly throughout the year. The public is welcome.
