LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women will host a special presentation by Susan Hayward from Thorncrag Nature Sanctuary at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21.
Thorncrag, owned and managed by the Stanton Bird Club, is a 372-acre wildlife preserve, encompassing the highest hill in the city. Hayward will show slide photos of birds and plants found in the sanctuary and share history and plans for the future. In the spring she will lead a guided tour of Thorncrag.
The QiGong class continues at 1 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 6 and 18.
The Fibromyalgia Support Group took a break in December, but has resumed meeting from 10:30 a.m. to noon Mondays. Membership is open to anyone with a current diagnosis.
Two ongoing one-on-one opportunities continue. Pam Beliveau will be at the center from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10. She focuses on the “Inner Spirit” by offering 15- to 20-minute conversations for spiritual direction. Shanna Rogers from the Neighborhood Housing League will be at the center from 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays to consult with anyone about landlord and tenant issues.
Denise Dill from St. Mary’s Nutrition Center of Maine will teach her monthly class at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19. The focus is on eating well on a tight budget and includes sampling of seasonal dishes. Participants will go home with a recipe for each.
Other regular programs include a painting class on Thursday mornings with Dot Treadwell; a scrapbooking group and card-making class; and small groups that focus on building self-esteem.
The center welcomes all women, and all programs are offered free. For a complete calendar of activities, see www.wisdomswomen.org.
