NEWRY — Middle and high school students across the nation are being asked to compete for a free two-night stay from March 25 to 27 at Sunday River Ski Resort.
The competition will allow 50 winning students to take over an entire wing of the resort’s Ski Dorm for “two days of snow-filled fun,” spokeswoman Darcy Morse said by e-mail Tuesday.
To enter, students must submit the reason they and 49 of their closest friends deserve a field trip to the Newry resort. The entry deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28.
“Students can enter any way they want,” Nick Lambert, vice president of Sales and Marketing, said. “They can send us a letter, poster, a video — even a papier-mache likeness of our mascot Eddy the Yeti. Just make sure it shows us how much your school deserves to win.”
Sunday River’s Get Schooled Giveaway is valued at $8,600, Morse said. It includes two nights of lodging at the Sunday River Ski Dorm and two days of lift tickets, plus two mornings of breakfast and a dinner buffet for 50 people.
“This is a completely new giveaway for us and something we’re really excited to see unfold,” Morse said.
The free stay is timed to coincide with the resort’s third annual Dumont Cup, which is hosted by X Games gold medalist and free-skiing legend Simon Dumont, Morse said.
“For this highly anticipated event, the winning school will be invited to watch free-skiing’s top pros plus the best amateurs from across the country compete in the biggest get-schooled competition of them all,” she said.
The winning school will be notified by phone on Friday, March 4, and later announced on the resort’s Facebook page. For more information about the giveaway, visit www.sundayriver.com/Contest/DormGiveaway.html.
