POLAND — Cantus, a community-based chorale group from the Poland area, is seeking new members. Cantus sings primarily sacred music and mixes in classical works seasonally. The group performs music in a variety of genres, from ancient to modern. It performs music suitable for church services as well as public performances.

The choir was started in the fall of 2009 by Poland resident and longtime musician Daniel Mickool. The project has been modeled after the British choral tradition. Chorus members are from the local community and range widely in age and interests.

Membership is by informal audition. Sopranos are especially needed for upcoming spring concerts, though all voice parts are welcome. Rehearsals are Mondays at 7 p.m. and will resume in late February.

To arrange an audition, call Mickool at 319-6180 or e-mail cantusofmaine@gmail.com. You may also visit www.cantusofmaine.blogspot.com.
