OXFORD — An Otisfield teen was injured Friday morning in a chain-reaction accident involving seven vehicles on icy Cold Water Brook Road.
Oxford police identified the injured girl as 17-year-old Rachael Brennan of Otisfield. She was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, Oxford police Sgt. Rickie Jack said. A nursing supervisor said Brennan was not a patient there Friday night.
According to the accident report filed by Officer James Richardson, Allen Gerry, 63, of Otisfield was traveling on the road at about 7:20 a.m. when his 2009 Ford pickup slid on ice, hit a snowbank and rolled onto its side.
As other drivers approached the scene, located at the bottom of an ice-covered hill, their vehicles spun out and hit others in a chain reaction, according to police.
The drivers were identified as:
* Benjamin Sass, 28, of Oxford in a 1993 BMW.
* Rachael Brennan, 17, of Otisfield in a 1994 Toyota sedan registered to Patricia Brennan of Otisfield.
* James Blaquiere, 77, of Oxford in a 2000 Nissan pickup truck.
* Daniel Cox, 48, of Oxford, with passenger Ryan Godin, 15, in a 2008 Jeep.
* John Champlin, 61, of Otisfield in a 1999 Ford SUV.
* Tyler Pelletier, 18, of Oxford in a 1998 Chevrolet sedan.
Town highway workers were called to sand the road so police and rescue personnel could help those involved.
