Kyle Bates, son of Larry Bates of Minot and Maureen Jordan, earned a 3.938 grade point average during the fall 2010 semester at the University of Southern Maine. Bates is studying for a bachelor’s degree in health science and is a sophomore at USM, living on the Gorham campus. He is a 2009 graduate of Poland Regional High School.
