NORWAY — On Wednesday, March 9, Hallowell author Jeff Romano will speak about his favorite hikes in western Maine at 7 p.m. at the Norway Library.
A native New Englander, he has been hiking for more than 30 years. Besides scaling New England’s 100 highest peaks, he has hiked extensively throughout the wild places of all six states and beyond.
Since 2006, Romano has sought to capture his favorite hikes and remote places through words and images. In 2006, his first book, “Best Loop Hikes from the White Mountains of New Hampshire to the Maine Coast,” was released by Mountaineers Books.
A second book, “100 Classic Hikes in New England,” was published by Mountaineers Books in 2010. Together, these books capture more than 150 hiking destinations in New England’s six states.
Romano has also written columns in a number of publications, including The Boston Globe. He works as the public policy coordinator for the Maine Coast Heritage Trust and is active with the Maine Land Trust Network.
