LISBON — Fire Chief P. Sean Galipeau estimated damage at $50,000 in a smoky house fire at 4 Angel St. in Lisbon Falls on Wednesday afternoon. There were no injuries.
An investigator from the Office of the State Fire Marshal is expected visit the scene Thursday to help determine a cause, Galipeau said.
Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ciccarelli and their two daughters were not at their single-story ranch house when the fire was spotted and reported by a neighbor shortly before 4 p.m. The neighbor told firefighters he tried unsuccessfully to enter the house to get the family dog, which was later rescued unharmed by firefighters.
Flames were shooting from a back porch, up a wall and into the roof trusses over the kitchen and living room area when firefighters arrived, Galipeau said. The house sustained smoke and some structural damage but was not considered a total loss, he said. The house was insured.
Firefighters from Lisbon’s E.T. Hose Co. and the Lisbon Falls Fire Co. were assisted by a truck and crew from Topsham Fire Department. They cleared the scene shortly after 7 p.m.
