SOUTH PARIS — The Big Brothers Big Sisters Program of Oxford County is appealing to the community to support Bowl for Kids’ Sake, the mentoring program’s largest annual fundraiser. It will be held on Saturday, April 2, at Hobb’s Lucky Lanes. Bowlers will raise pledge money to support Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The nation’s leader in quality one-to-one youth mentoring services, Big Brothers Big Sisters focuses on youth social and emotional supports, educational achievement, avoidance of risky behaviors such as juvenile delinquency, higher self-esteem, confidence and the ability to relate to others. For more than 40 years, Bowl for Kids’ Sake has supported Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across the country, becoming its premiere fundraising event.
To join Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2011, participants form a team of four bowlers, who each raise $35 or more in support. After registering with Big Brothers Big Sisters, teams bowl at designated times over the weekend. Prizes are awarded for individuals and teams that raise the most pledges. For every $100 raised, bowling team members are given an entry into the grand prize, which is a flat-screen television. During the event weekend, door prizes and raffles are held which are donated from local Oxford Hills area business.
