RUMFORD — Motorists can now get timely and accurate collision information from the Rumford Police Department thanks to a new partnership with an online provider of such reports.
Chief Stacy Carter said Wednesday afternoon in a report that GetCrashReports.com will provide optional online access to most crash reports completed by Rumford police.
“In most cases, crash reports will be available 72 hours after the report was taken, with the exception of crashes that remain under investigation,” Carter said.
Those reports cannot be released until the investigation is completed, he said.
He encouraged motorists, businesses, insurance agencies, etc., to use GetCrashReports.com to access crash reports.
However, he said crash reports can still be accessed at the Rumford Police Department window, which is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
GetCrashReports.com allows individual crash reports to be purchased with major credit cards, he said.
To buy a single crash report, go to www.getcrashreports.com and follow the simple five-step process.
Insurance companies can purchase multiple reports, Carter said. To purchase multiple reports at once, one must create a subscriber account with GetCrashReports.com.
He said to set up a subscriber account, click on “Subscriber Login” on GetCrashReports.com and click the “New Subscriber” link.
“A representative from GetCrashReports.com will contact you within 24 hours to assist you,” he said.
