- Since no one from the Farmington Town Office was invited to Friday’s Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in London, the staff decided to celebrate on their own. The party, planned for a week and held before the office opened for business, featured Town Manager Richard Davis decked out in a bowtie and bowler hat that once belonged to Farmington earmuff inventor Chester Greenwood; assessor Mark Caldwell as a London “bobby”; and the ladies outfitted in period finery wearing dramatic hats they decorated themselves. “Everyone has been following the royal wedding plans and stories, and we thought this would be a lot of fun,” said administrative assistant Linda Grant, who contributed a platter of English-style cucumber finger sandwiches to the “high tea” spread.
