Displeased with progress toward negotiation of a 1986-87 contract, Lewiston Teachers Association members Thursday “ceased all voluntary activities,” President Patricia Lemaire said.
First effects of the action came at Montello School, when instructors didn’t show at a science fair and a student/teacher basketball game. Students found a note explaining why the teachers weren’t there.
LTA members are angered the School Committee wants to give larger pay raises to new teachers than to experienced instructors, Lemaire said.
