The first exhibition in Maine of the great moving picture “Lassoing Wild Animals in Africa,” by Buffalo Jones and his cowboys, will today be given at Music Hall. The management has secured this wonderful moving picture at considerable extra expense, knowing that their patrons will take a deep interest in this, the moving picture sensation of the age.
50 years ago, 1961
LISBON FALLS — Miss Sharon Hinkley, president of the junior class of Lisbon High School, has been named one of the marshals for the commencement exercises of the class of 1961, to be held early in June.
This is the first time in the history of the new Lisbon High School that a girl student will officiate as a marshal, and Miss Hinkley is selected by virtue of being president of the class. She is also a member of the National Honor Society; her name appears on the honor roll every ranking period.
25 years ago, 1986
Two high-school automotive students from Lewiston Regional Vocational Center won the Maine Plymouth-AAA Trouble Shooting Contest and the right to represent Maine in the national championships in Washington, D.C., on June 22-25.
Marcel Houle and Thomas Field competed against nine other two-person teams on May 13 in a hands-on auto repair contest held at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham.
In the hands-on state finals, Houle and Field repaired a “bugged” 1986 Plymouth Reliant in the fastest time with the highest quality workmanship.
