OSWEGO, N.Y. — Michelle E. Hamann of Gammon Road in Peru completed graduate studies in accounting and management with a Bachelor of Science/Master of Business Administration degree at the State University of New York at Oswego. She graduated magna cum laude with a grade average of 3.6 to 3.79.

Hamann received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence, the highest student recognition through the State University system.

Five SUNY Oswego students were among the 350 honorees at 64 SUNY institutions across New York state recognized for high grade-point average and extraordinary contributions to the campus and community.

Hamann also was selected to receive the Outstanding Senior Award at SUNY Oswego, presented by the Oswego Alumni Association, at the college’s torchlight ceremony preceding commencement in May. She further received the Outstanding Business Student (John Parr) Award at SUNY Oswego’s Honors Convocation.

As president of Omicron Delta Kappa, a leadership honor society, Hamann accepted the Region II SUNY Association of Council Members and College Trustees Student Initiative Award in recognition of Omicron Delta Kappa’s “Take the Lead” program. She was active in several student organizations including WTOP student television and the Financial Management Association. She is a member of Vega, the women’s honor society; three honor societies in the School of Business; and Phi Kappa Phi, an all-discipline honor society.

Among her many campus awards are the Edward Austin Sheldon Scholar Award, Maroney Family Newman Center Scholarship, Olive Brannan Spargo ’31 Endowed Leadership Award and Charles Turner Graduate Award. She is the daughter of Joan and Roger Hamann.
