WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) — The administrator for the U.S. Agency for International Development reinforced the importance of investing in developing nations in an address to Colby College graduates.

Rajiv Shah told the 486 graduates on Sunday to use their unique skills around the world and “play your part in the next great opportunity to improve human welfare.”

The Waterville college awarded honorary doctorates to Shah, novelist Richard Ford, Cianbro CEO Peter Vigue, philanthropist Bernard Osher and sociologist and African-American studies professor Adelaide Cromwell.
