PARIS — Western Maine University and Community College Center of South Paris will offer courses leading to an associate degree in emergency management/homeland security from the University of Maine at Fort Kent. UMFK is the only institution of higher education in Maine to offer such a program.
The emergency management/ homeland security field is experiencing strong job growth throughout the nation.
The associate degree program is offered completely online or as a blended program. Graduates may rollover their entire associate degree into the University’s rural public safety administration baccalaureate program, which also is available online.
The program is intended for those who wish to pursue a career in law enforcement, either as a first responder or a supporter/resource professional.
Many of the courses included in the curriculum have been designed and written by leading authorities and higher education faculty from across the country and FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute.
