FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Budget Committee will hold a public hearing on a proposed $5.25 million budget at 6 p.m. Monday, June 6, at the courthouse.

The Committee will hear public input on the proposal at the time but doesn’t plan to make a decision on the budget until 5:30 pm. Thursday, June 9, at the courthouse. Public comments will not be accepted after the hearing, Budget Committee Chairman John Calloway said previously.

The $5.25 million spending plan for 2011-12 includes $1.6 million for the jail. The proposal represents a $214,045 increase over the current budget. Factoring in $580,600 in anticipated revenues including $100,000 from the county’s undesignated fund would leave about $4.67 million for the towns that pay county taxes to share.

The budget panel will also consider adding an additional $15,000 to the budget to bring the courthouse into compliance with the state fire inspector’s findings.

The budget proposal includes $22,290 for rent, heat and other fees to move the District Attorney’s Office out of the basement of the courthouse into leased space.

The spending package also includes about $83,800 for communication upgrades and services for the Sheriff’s Department Communications Center.
