FARMINGTON – A local man died Sunday night from his injuries after crashing his car into a tree on the Temple Road.

Christopher J. Allen, 27, of Farmington was driving a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am west on Temple Road, in the area of Mill Pond Park, at a presumed high rate of speed about 8 p.m., Farmington Police Sgt. Michael Adcock said.

Allen apparently lost control of his vehicle, went off the road and struck a tree, Adcock said.

When police arrived, Allen, who was alone in the single vechicle crash, was  in critical condition but still had a weak pulse. He was extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel and taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, Adcock said.

Farmington police were assisted at the scene by Maine State Police, Farmington Fire and Rescue and NorthStar.
