Mini Relay

BETHEL — The Telstar Middle School advanced art class will present a mini Relay For Life for the American Cancer Society from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the Telstar track and trails.

This event, which will include food, crafts, games and other entertainment, is in honor of Nancy B. Young, the longtime secretary of the Crescent Park Elementary School who passed away in Aug. 2010 after a six-year battle with cancer. Participants will be walking along the track and the recently completed “Path of Perseverance” trail, which was built by advanced art students to connect the Telstar trail system to Bailey Road.

All community members are invited to join the event participants on the track for the survivor’s lap at 4 p.m. and the luminaria ceremony at 8 p.m.. For more information, visit www.wix.com/tmspop/trails.

Cinderella Tea

NAPLES — A Cinderella Tea will be presented by Lake Region Community Theatrefrom 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the Singer Community Center on the village green. All girls and boys ages 3-11 are invited.

The cost is $5 per young guest and free for parents and grandparents. All guests should wear their Sunday best and must be accompanied by an adult.

Lake Region Community Theatre will present Cinderella on June 17-19 and 24-26 at Deertrees Theatre, Harrison. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m.

AARP meeting

PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet Monday, June 13, at the First Congregational Church on East Main St., South Paris. Ham with potato salad, veggies and dessert are on the menu, with dinner being served at noon. The cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by noon on Friday, June 10.

The meeting will begin at 1 with the installation of new officers. This will be followed by a representative from Central Maine Power discussing the new smart meters.

Bean supper

OTISFIELD — The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church will host an old-fashioned bean super from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11, in the fellowship room of the church, 231 Rayville Road. Pastor Genise Knowlton will be in charge in the kitchen. Menu includes baked beans, franks, salads, homemade desserts, coffee, juice and tea.

MINOT — The Hebron Historical Society will hold a fundraising barbeque chicken supper from at the West Minot Grange hall from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 12. Includes homemade potato, macaroni and garden salads, coleslaw, dessert and beverage. $8 adults, $4 children under 12. Takeout available.

Worship service

PARIS — The Rev. Dr. Robert Sallies will lead the worship service Sunday, June 12, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris. His 10 a.m. service sermon topic will be “The Quality of Courage.” Music will be by Forest Perkins, organist, and the choir. Renee Wales will lead the Sunday School. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Cleanup day

WATERFORD — The Waterford World’s Fair will have a combined cleanup day and membership meeting on Sunday, June 12, starting at 9 a.m. with the general cleanup of the grounds and all the buildings.

Bring your rake or broom and plenty of energy. At noon hamburgers and hot dogs and a drink will be served. Dessert to share that would be greatly appreciated.

The meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and listen to all the new events that are being planned for this year’s fair, to be held July 15-17. Be sure to check out the progress of the new steer and oxen barn.

The fairgrounds is located on the Green Road in North Waterford.

Norway — The Woman’s Imaging Center at Stephens Memorial Hospital will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, with their bra fitter, Joan Caron.

Caron will bring bathing suits, camisoles and tank tops and all attire will be at 20 percent. Cash, check and charge are all accepted.

Joan specializes in mastectomy patients, however, all women are welcome. No appointment necessary.

Historical society

WOODSTOCK — The Woodstock Historical Society met at the museum May 14 and did research on two requests it had recently received.

In addition, President Olive Risko did a research report on Hannibal Hamlin’s brief service as a private in the military. Curator Larry Billings donated a new wall clock to the museum.

The June meeting, about cemeteries, will be held on June 18.

Finnish heritage

WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will hold their monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 19, at the Finnish-American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St.

The two-part program will include a presentation by Dale Piirainen of his Alaska cruise and a Juhannus program with special guest Marja-Leena Bailey of Bedford, Mass. A coffee social will follow. The public is invited.
