Dance cancelled

PARIS — The Swingin Bears Square Dance Club has cancelled the dance originally scheduled for June 11 and rescheduled for June 18. The school cafeteria where the dances are held is not available due to a school function.

Church services

RUMFORD — The Rumford United Methodist Church will have its church service at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 12. It will be a joint service with the Rumford Center United Methodist Church and the Bethel United Methodist Church. Because it is a celebration of Pentecost, which was the birth of the church, the sermon by Pastor Carol Stevens will be “Happy Birthday, Church.”

Following the church service there will be a fellowship dinner. The church service and the dinner are both open to the public and first-time worshipers are always welcome. FMI contact Pastor Stevens at 364-8703.

Swim program

BRIDGTON — Summer Swim program forms are now available online on the Town of Bridgton website, www.bridgtonmaine.org/recreation.cfm, and also at the front desk of the town office. This American Red Cross Certified program is for ages 3 and 4 and swim levels 1-6. Forms must be in for the first session by June 17. The first session runs from June 27-July 15. The second session deadline is July 15; this session runs from July 25-Aug. 12.

Retired teachers

FRYEBURG — There will be an OCEA-R Retired Teachers meeting at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 17, with a social at 11 a.m., business meeting at noon and lunch at 12:45 p.m. The program will be Ms. Marilyn Bean with a display and talk on figurines. The fundraiser will be a yard sale. The location of the meeting is New Church on Elm Street. To reserve a lunch, call 743-7677.

Hereford auction

FRYEBURG — Maine and Northern New Hampshire Jr. Hereford members are holding a take-a-chance auction Friday, June 17, at the Fryeburg Fair Grounds in the Agricultural Center. The auction viewing is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with the drawing starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for 25. There will be a $1 table and a 50/50 raffle.

Members are Jessica Smith from Troy, Carrie Butterfield from Chesterville, Harrie Gushee-Kimball from Fryeburg, Raymond Gushee-Frost from Fryeburg, Alex Clark from Winslow, Meg Hall from East Dixfield, Sage LeBlanc from Dayton, and Erik and Anna Fredrickson from Wolfeboro, N.H. They are raising money to go to the Hereford Jr. National Show in Kansas City, Mo., July 9-19 to show and participate in other events like showmanship, illustrated speech, team marketing, team fitting, grill cook-off and type shows.

Acadia trip

BRIDGTON — Bridgton and Sebago Recreation are accepting reservations for a day trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park on Friday, June 24.

The trip will consist of visits to Cadillac Mountain, Jordan Pond House, Thunder Hole and downtown Bar Harbor. For ages 18 and up. Cost is $30 per person for Bridgton and Sebago residents and $35 for nonresidents. Forms are available in the Bridgton and Sebago town offices. Spaces are limited and filling up quickly. PARIS — The Hamlin Memorial Library & Museum is accepting vendor applications for the annual Founder’s Day event which will take place on Saturday, July 16.
