Golden Age
LEWISTON — The Golden Age Group of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish will hold their June meeting at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Marco’s Restaurant on Mollison Way. A free buffet luncheon will be provided by The Fortin Group.
Anyone from IHMP (even if you are not a member of the Golden Age Club) may attend this free luncheon.
Registration in advance is required by calling Paula at 576-4082 or the Rectory Office at 782-8096 and leaving your name and phone number. The restaurant needs a head count and the Fortin Group wants to be sure they have Free Personal Planning Guides for everyone.
Flag ceremony
LEWISTON — A Flag Day ceremony for the disposal of American flags will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Veterans Park. Every organization interested in bringing an American flag should be dressed appropriately or in uniform to present the flag to Chairman Ray Boulet of the L & A Veterans council; this is part of the ceremony.

Senior fair
LEWISTON — The Androscoggin County Elder Abuse Task Force will host a Senior Resource Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Seniors Plus, 8 Falcon Road, in recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
Community members are invited to attend to learn more about the issues facing seniors. Speakers will address the following topics: What you need to know about 911, red flags of elder abuse, and financial exploitation.
A free lunch will be provided at noon, during which Det. Lee Jones of the Lewiston Police Department will give a keynote session on how to avoid scams. Throughout the day, local organizations that provide services to seniors will have tables set up for participants to gather information and ask questions.

Qigong workshop
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing and Rumford Hospital have partnered to offer a free Qigong workshop to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. “Qigong for Optimal Health” is scheduled for 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16, in Rumford Hospital’s Conference Room C.
Qigong is an ancient gentle and relaxing Asian exercise which helps reduce stress and increase the flow of energy (qi) through the body. Presenter Betsey Foster, MPA, will teach simple Qigong exercises as well as breathing techniques with visualizations.
