WALES — The RSU #4 School Board approved the “Summer Take Home” of technology devices to keep students connected to the school and collaborating with their teachers and high school staff this summer through district-issued Gmail accounts.
The summer take home allows students to explore the exciting new Maine Learning Technology Initiative Image this summer and arrive at school on Aug. 29 with their valuable learning tool in hand.
Summer take home is recommended but not mandatory. Parents can contact Oak Hill High School at 375-4950, option 9, to request their child’s assigned device remain at the school this summer.
Food bank open house
AUBURN — In honor of the 30th anniversary of Good Shepherd Food-Bank feeding Maine’s hungry an open house will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, June 10, at main headquarters at 3121 Hotel Road.
The open house will feature a brief program, starting around 2:30 p.m. Rick Small, president and CEO of Good Shepherd Food-Bank, will make remarks, followed by speakers from Reps. Pingree and Michaud’s offices and Sens. Collins and Snowe’s offices.
Light hors d’oeuvres will be available throughout the open house. Guests will be encouraged to take self-guided tours through the warehouse and talk with staff and board members about the organization.

Bridge results
LEWISTON — Lewiston Auburn Social Bridge club met Monday in the Multipurpose Center. Finishing first in flight A were Eleanor and Lindy Wigton who also were first in flight B; second in A were Hazel Glazier and Marta Clements; third were Connie and Ron Reynolds. Second in flight B were Lois Barr and Claire Lyons; third were Cynthia and Bill Clifford, who also were first in flight C. Finishing second in flight C were Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; third were Marlene and Conrad Violette.

Senior meals
LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Recreation Department’s Sunshine Hill Senior’s program will offer a full day of meals on Tuesday, June 14. The cafe will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner at the MTM Center from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The menu will include French toast, muffins, meatball subs, hot dogs, chili, spaghetti, haddock chowder and a variety of desserts. Coffee and tea will be served all day.
The purpose is to help raise funds for transportation for senior trips and other recreation programs. For questions, call the recreation office at 353-2289.

Farmer elections
LEWISTON — Androscoggin/Sagadahoc County Executive Director Thomas Kuklinski wants to remind farmers and landowners that local Farm Service Agency county committee nominations begin on Wednesday, June 15.
Farmers are urged to participate in this year’s county committee elections by nominating candidates by the Aug. 1 deadline.
To be eligible to serve on an FSA county committee, a person must participate or cooperate in a program administered by FSA, be eligible to vote in a county committee election and reside in the local administrative area in which the person is a candidate.
Farmers may nominate themselves or others. The form and other information about FSA county committee elections are available online at www.fsa.usda.gov/elections. Elections will take place this fall.
GPS workshop
BOWDOINHAM — Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District will hold a beginner’s handheld GPS workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 24, at the town office. The cost is $10 per person.

Game night
LEWISTON – The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free workshop for families affected by cancer. “Family Game Night” will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 17, at CMMC, 12 High St., in conference room I.
When cancer strikes a family, everyone is affected. One the greatest challenges for families in times of crisis and change can be effective collaboration. In this workshop, families are invited to play together and learn how cooperative, nonelectronic games can offer these skills and more.
The workshop is offered through the center’s Healing Tree children’s program and led by children’s program coordinator Tookie Bright.
