POLAND — The proposed $17.8 million budget for RSU 16 will be discussed, debated and ultimately voted upon at a town-meeting-style forum to be held this evening, Monday, June 13, at the Poland Regional High School.
The meeting is the second attempt this spring to set a budget for the district’s 2011-12 school year, which begins July 1.
A similar meeting, held on May 11, approved a $18.1 million budget, which was subsequently rejected by voters in a validation referendum vote on May 17.
The budget that voters approve at this meeting will be sent to a referendum ballot vote, which is scheduled for Tuesday, June 21, at the customary polling places in the three towns.
Municipal officials from Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland will be on hand at 6 p.m. to check people into the meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
