Historical society

NEW VINEYARD — New Vineyard Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Historical Society Room.

The speakers will be Connie Hiltz, chaplain of Colonial Daughters Chapter, DAR, who, with other DAR members and several interested people, has been researching the Old Burial Ground cemetery, circa 1794, in West Farmington.

This cemetery was the burial ground of the very first settlers in the area and is almost forgotten with many people having no knowledge of it.

She will be assisted by Brent Smith, who lived beside it in his growing up years and has some knowledge of it. Elaine Wells, vice-president of the society, will also add to the program.
