JAY — Voters at the annual town meeting referendum Tuesday passed all articles pertaining to the $6.29 million municipal budget for 2011-12.
The municipal spending package represents a $110,606.32 increase over the current budget.
However, due to a decrease in anticipated revenues, taxpayers would need to raise an estimated $3.97 million for town government compared to $3.44 million that was raised this year. The difference between the net budgets is $527,951.32.
Town Clerk Ronda Palmer said at midday that it was going to be a low turnout. Less than 300 voters went to the polls.
Residents also approved updating the town’s Comprehensive Plan and the Recycling and Waste Disposal Ordinance.
They also passed a $450,000 paving budget and $279,127.14 to pay off an unfunded liability for Maine State Retirement.
Selectmen Tim DeMillo with 234 votes and Tom Goding with 225 votes were both re-elected.
William “Bill” Flagg was elected as trustee of the Jay Village Water District.
