Summer reading

PARIS — The Hamlin Memorial Library’s summer reading program will begin on June 15 and continue through Aug. 15. Children of all ages are encouraged to pick up a reading log at the library to participate. Everyone who reads for 500 minutes or more will win a free book, and the top reader at the end of the program will win a $25 gift card to Amazon.com. Call 743-2980 with questions about the program.

Wrestling camp

Community award

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Grange #298 will hold a Community Service Award program Thursday, June 16, at the West Paris Grange Hall, Church Street. The 2011 award recipient is Charles “Ted” Jones of West Paris in recognition of his dedication and service to the community. The program will start at 7:30 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.

Ted and his wife Betty have been involved with many activities in West Paris. He was an important motivator of the West Paris Library building expansion effort which has resulted in a wonderful addition to the library. He is active in the West Paris Historical Society, West Paris Old Home Days and other projects and groups, large and small. He is a carpenter/contractor as well as a school bus driver.

Bridge results

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met June 10. A seven table Howell movement was enjoyed.

Finishing first in flight A n/s were Mike Quinn (Otisfield) and Nick Karamessinis (New Gloucester), second were Priscilla Rooth (Brunswick) and Hazel Glazier (Norway) who also were first in flights B and C.

Third in flight A were Marta Clements (Woodstock) and Nancy Farmer (Norway).

Finishing second in flight B were Maryann Trafton (Waterville) and Kathy Burden (Augusta), third were Bill Tedford (Casco) and Gail Brickel who also were second in flight C.

Finishing third in flight C were Diana and Jim Fallon (Bridgton).

Finishing first in flight A e/w were Lucille Theriault (Lewiston) and Fred Letourneau (Winslow), second were Dave Kallander (Poland) and Richard Balian (Waterford) who also were first in flight B. Third in A were Jim Krainin (Naples) and Milt McKeen (Bridgton) who also were second in flight B and first in flight C. Third in flight B were Carol Curran (Bridgton) and Barbara Vanderzander (Norway), second in flight C were Cindy and Bob Kirchherr (South Paris), third were Cathy Sanderson and Elizabeth Wood (Otisfield)
