ORONO — Lee M. Hutchinson, formerly of Jay, received a master of science degree in biochemistry from the University of Maine in May. During his tenure at the graduate school, Lee was awarded a teaching assistantship and a research assistantship. At UMaine, he worked in the Gosse laboratory studying the effects of arsenic on mast cells. Lee’s co-authored article, “Inorganic Arsenite Inhibits IgE Receptor-Mediated Degranulation of Mast Cells,” appeared in the Journal of Applied Toxicology (April 2010). His thesis titled, “Inorganic Arsenite Inhibits Allergic Signal Transduction in Mast Cells,” was defended in April 2011.
Lee has accepted a position with EnviroLogix in Portland as a bio-organic conjugate scientist.
