OXFORD — The Oxford Historical Society monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 24, at the Kay House Museum on Pleasant Street.

Refreshments will be served following a short meeting and program.

Bridge results

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met June 10. A seven table Howell movement was enjoyed.

Finishing first in flight A n/s were Mike Quinn (Otisfield) and Nick Karamessinis (New Gloucester), second were Priscilla Rooth (Brunswick) and Hazel Glazier (Norway) who also were first in flights B and C.

Third in flight A were Marta Clements (Woodstock) and Nancy Farmer (Norway).

Finishing second in flight B were Maryann Trafton (Waterville) and Kathy Burden (Augusta), third were Bill Tedford (Casco) and Gail Brickel who also were second in flight C.

Finishing third in flight C were Diana and Jim Fallon (Bridgton).

Homemade pies

HARRISON — The Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Ronald St. John Post 9328 will sell their famous homemade pies on Saturday, June 25, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot beside the Harrison Village Library. The cost of each pie is $12. Come early to buy your favorite pie before they are sold out.

Kitten shower

NORWAY — A kitten shower will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 25 and 26, at Responsible Pet Care Feline Shelter and Adoption Center, 132 Waterford Road.

Visit and adopt kittens, drive through the outside express donation station weather permitting. There will be door prizes, a raffle and refreshments.

Donation ideas include Purina Kitten Chow, cat toys, baby blankets, canned kitten food, bleach, paper towels, laundry soap and money for medical needs.

OXFORD — The Oxford Historical Society rummage and food sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 25, at Kay House Museum, Pleasant Street.

All proceeds go towards the Kay House Museum Restoration Fund.

Summer salad

SOUTH PARIS — The Summer Salad Festival will be held at Deering Memorial Methodist Church, 39 Main St., from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 25. The menu will include roast turkey and baked ham along with homemade ice cream with fresh strawberries. The cost for adults is $8 and the cost for children under 12 is $4. There is ample parking available behind the library and town office.

Lions car show

HARRISON — The Harrison Lions Club annual car show will be held Sunday, June 26, at Crystal Lake Park on Route 117 in Harrison Village. Registration is $5 for car and driver at runs from 8 to 11 a.m. Voting will be from 9 a.m. to noon with the awards ceremony to begin at 2 p.m.

The show will feature 19 different classes with three awards per class and best of show. Also this year will be radio control (RC) car racing with at $10 registration fee. Admission is free to the public, but donations are always accepted. Proceed will be used for other community programs. For more information, contact Gene Cross at 693-4051.

4-H auction

MEXICO — The Oxford County 4-H Beef and Sheep Club will hold a Take-A-Chance auction on Sunday, June 26, at the Region 9 School of Applied Technology. Doors open at 1 p.m. and drawings begin at 3 p.m.

Democrats meet

NORWAY — The Oxford County Democrats will meet from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at the Fare Share Common on Main Street. Greg Olson, campaign manager for Congressman Mike Michaud, will be the speaker. He will offer campaign analysis and work with the local Democrats on planning for 2012.

Other business will include election of convention committee members including credentials, permanent organization and platform. A wrap-up on the legislative session will be offered by members of the delegation. Candidate recruitment and fundraising reports will be on the agenda.

Those attending may bring finger food and other treats to share. The meeting is open to anyone interested in electing Democrats in 2012. Strawberry fest

WEST MINOT — The West Minot Grange annual strawberry festival will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 26.

Homemade ice cream, pies, sundaes, shortcakes and beverages will be available. The cost is $4. The Grange is located on Routes 119 and 124.
