TURNER — Macaroni Kid is hosting Snores -n- S’mores, a community campout, Saturday and Sunday, June 25 and 26,  at Martin Stream Campground. The community campout is part of the National Wildlife Fund’s Great American Backyard Campout program.

Macaroni Kid is helping families to reconnect to the great outdoors. Snores -n- S’mores will kick off at 4 p.m. June 25, although campers are encouraged to arrive earlier in the day to set up camp, enjoy swimming in the pool, canoeing/kayaking, fishing and more. Martin Stream Campground is located at One Martin Stream Road, just two miles off Route 4. The Snores -n- S’mores tentative schedule for Saturday includes:

4 p.m. — Meet and greet with fellow campers and enjoy a Ranger Rick wildlife activity.

4:30 p.m. — Attend a “how to geocache” session and an introduction to Turner’s Ranger Rick Geocache Trail.

5 p.m. — Decorate your own pillowcases.

6 p.m. — Break for dinner. Campers provide their own meals with the exception of s’mores for dessert Saturday evening. Campers are welcome to come to the community campfire to heat meals and eat “picnic style.”

7:30 p.m. — Indulge in s’mores and storytelling at the community campfire. This will also include an introduction to Turner Public Library’s summer reading program, Camping Spree.

8:30 p.m. — Astronomy 101

9 p.m. — Relax by the community campfire or head back to your campsite for some well-deserved “snores.”

Sunday events include a leisurely breakfast at the community campfire site and time to chat with new friends. Spend some time fishing, canoeing/kayaking, playing at the new playground or Rec Hall, or swimming in the pool. Check out at Martin Stream Campground is required by 1 p.m.

Snores -n- S’mores costs $40 per family (for two adults and up to three children). It is $15 for each additional guest. Cost includes campsite for either a tent or RV, all activities and activity materials, s’mores on Saturday evening, access to swimming pool, fishing, playground, horseshoes, volleyball, basketball, canoeing and kayaking (rentals available or bring your own) and a free day-use vehicle pass to Maine state parks and historical sites.
