Carnival for gazebo
JAY — A carnival will be held Thursday, June 23, through Sunday, June 26, to benefit the town gazebo fund on the gravel parking lot at Jay Plaza, closest to McDonald’s. Smokey’s Greater Shows will be open from 5 to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, June 23 and 24, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 26. Admission is free. There will be wristband specials.
Food for kids
LIVERMORE FALLS — The Regional School Unit 36 School Nutrition Program is offering a free Summer Food Service Feeding Program for children. Breakfast and lunch are being served on weekdays at Livermore Falls High School through July 29. All meals must be eaten at the site.
All meals meet the federal government guideline. This program continues to serve approximately 250 children daily with this federally funded program. Free meals are provided to attending children 18 years of age and under, without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age or handicap.
Mountain work
JAY — Community members are invited to a meet and greet the Army National Guard 262nd Engineer Co. doing drainage work at Spruce Mountain Ski Slope. The unit’s commander, Capt. Jason White, and others will be there from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the Spruce Mountain lodge.
Splash-In
OQUOSSOC — The first Rangeley Splash-In will take place June 24-26 at Bald Mountain Camps Resort, 125 Bald Mountain Road, Oquossoc.
A cocktail party will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, June 24, followed by a safety seminar at 6.
A public cookout will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25. Menu includes burgers, hot dogs, wings, chop suey, French fries. Flying events will begin at 1 p.m. A landing and takeoff competition will be held in the Town Cove followed by Bomb the Bismarck, where planes will drop bags of cornmeal on a pontoon boat. An awards ceremony will follow the events, at the Acadian Seaplane Base.
A public pancake breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Sunday, June 26. The Friends of Mountain Aviation annual meeting will wrap up the event.

No services
PHILLIPS — There will be no morning worship services at Phillips Community Church on Sunday, June 26. Those wishing may attend the UCC annual conference worship service at Old South Church at 10 a.m. in Farmington. Phillips services will resume on July 3 at 10 a.m.
July 3 parade
JAY — The annual July 3rd parade in Jay/Livermore Falls will line up starting at 3 p.m., with kickoff at 5 p.m. from the Memco Parking Lot in Jay. The route will go to Ware Butler in Livermore Falls. Afterwards, the VFW Post will hold a chicken barbecue and country music. $8 per person. Fireworks will follow.
