- While standing at the Lake Anasagunticook Dam on Wednesday morning, Canton Selectmen Scotty Kilbreth, left, and Jackie Conant hold a giant $200,000 grant check representing money the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will provide in October. It will be used to encapsulate the old Brindis Leather Co. tannery site, which closed in 1976. The town is getting money for a new dam and a public boat launch also. “We’re going to spiff up the town a little bit,” Kilbreth said.
