Story hour

FAYETTE — Summer Story Hour will held at the Underwood Library at 10 a.m. Thursdays from July 14 through Aug. 25. There will be stories, crafts, door prizes and refreshments. The theme this summer is “One World, Many Stories.” A different country will be highlighted each week. It is for all ages.

Young PORTopera

FARMINGTON — Cafe Vienna, a staged opera by American composer Richard Pearson Thomas, will be performed in English by the PORTopera Young Artists at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Nordica Auditorium in Merrill Hall at the University of Maine at Farmington. Tickets are $12 for adults and free for 16 and younger. Available at the door or Everyday Music in Farmington. Bake sale

FAYETTE — The Fayette Fire Auxiliary will have their annual bake sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 16, at the Fayette Fire Station, 2475 Main St.

Gospel concerts

FARMINGTON — Henderson Memorial Baptist Church announces another summer series of gospel music concerts on the front lawn of the church, at the corner of Main and Academy streets in downtown Farmington. This year’s performers are the band Greater Purpose and solo artist Sammie Angel.

Local group Greater Purpose will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 17. Sammie Angel grew up in Wilton and moved to Florida to become a professional singer. A few years ago she moved back to Maine and opened the Front Porch Cafe in Dixfield. She will share her personal interpretations of old-time gospel music at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 31.

The concerts will happen rain or shine, moving indoors in the event of bad weather. A freewill offering will be taken. For more information, call 778-2163.
