- Dottie Hamlyn watches firefighters emerge from her house on Loon Point Lane near Thompson Lake in Poland on Thursday after a power surge caused appliances and surge protectors to overheat and emit smoke. Sitting next to her is her grandson, Emmett Gagne, 2, and family friend Katie Reidy, 9. They are all from Wells. According to Poland Fire Chief Mark Bosse, the call came in at around 11 a.m.
