Shortcake supper

WATERFORD — The North Waterford Congregational Church will hold a public supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19. Menu will include a wide variety of homemade casseroles, salads and other dishes, as well as the traditional baked beans and featuring homemade strawberry shortcake for dessert. The church is located on Five Kezars Road, off routes 35 and 37, opposite Melby’s Market. Public suppers will be held every other Tuesday during July and August.

Blood drive

(add to RCO)BETHEL — A Bethel community blood drive will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Telstar High School.

The Parrot Head Club of the Northern Tropics will bring the tropics to Bethel with tropical music among tiki umbrellas and palm trees. Tropical snacks and drinks will be provided.

All donors have the chance to win two Boston Red Sox tickets and be honored on the field as Blood Donors of the Game.

Summer breakfast

WATERFORD — The second in a series of four summer breakfasts will be held from 7:30 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20th in the Wilkins Community House at the foot of Plummer Hill Road just off the Waterford Town Common. A tradition of more than 50 years, the breakfasts offer a menu of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes, freshly made muffins, donuts, orange juice and coffee. The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 5 to 10, and free for children under 5. Upcoming breakfasts are Wednesday, Aug. 3, and Wednesday, Aug. 17. Proceeds contribute to the maintenance of the Wilkins Community House.

The indoor yard sale in the Wilkins House basement will be open from 7 to 11 a.m. on the days of the breakfasts. New items appear at each sale. Proceeds from the sale go to the Building Improvement Funds of the Wilkins House and the Waterford Congregational Church.
