RANGELEY — Two Massachusetts teens were charged Tuesday with snatching a 30-pack of beer from a beer delivery man’s stack in a driveway at a store on Main Street, police said.
A man was unloading a beer truck at Lakeside Convenience and Marina and stacked cases of beer to bring into the store, Rangeley police Chief Dennis Leahy said.
Two guys pulled in and the passenger got out and grabbed a 30-pack and they drove off, he said.
The delivery man saw them and hollered to them. It was another customer who went after them, stopped them and convinced them to go back to the store.
Leahy said he pulled in just as they arrived and the store owner was standing with them.
He charged the driver of the vehicle, Timothy Norton, 18, of Westford, Mass., with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and illegal transportation of liquor by a minor, Leahy said.
The passenger, Manu Kumar, 18, also of Westford, Mass., was charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
Both are scheduled to appear in Farmington District Court on Sept. 22.
