JAY — The Androscoggin River Watershed Council and the Androscoggin Land Trust and its Chisholm Trails program are holding the first Paddle After Hours event on the Androscoggin River.
The organizations are inviting the public to participate at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, at the Otis Falls Mill in Jay.
This event is part of Council’s Source to Sea Trek, in which paddlers tackle nearly the entire length of the Androscoggin in celebration of its continued revitalization.
Register to participate on the Androscoggin River Watershed Council’s website arwc.camp7.org. Click on Day 12 of Source to Sea Trek to register.
Androscoggin Land Trust has been working with the towns of Jay and Livermore Falls to improve downtown canoe and kayak access to the Androscoggin River and build new trails through the heart of the community.
The paddle will be an easy stretch up to Pine Island and back, followed by refreshments at the Otis Mill sponsored by Otis Ventures LLC.
People can bring their own canoe or kayak, or canoes can be rented from Bethel Outdoor Adventure in exchange for a donation to the Androscoggin Land Trust.
