POLAND — The Western Maine Veterans’ Advisory Committee is sponsoring a golf tournament at the Fairlawn Golf Course on Aug. 24. A shotgun start at 10 a.m. will open the competition, which is a scramble format. Much planning has been done for this tournament that will benefit the activities fund at the Maine Veterans’ Home of South Paris.
Highlights of the tournament include a car donated by Goodwin Chevrolet of Oxford for the first hole-in-one of the day. There are many prizes that will be up for raffles throughout the day including rounds of golf at local golf courses, including Augusta Country Club, Bethel Country Club, Bridgton Highlands and Paris Hill Country Club. The tournament includes 18 holes of golf, use of a cart, a catered meal and goodie bags filled by local sponsors. Trophies will be presented to the recipients of various categories.
There is still time to register a team, become a sponsor or donate a prize. For more information, call 744-9156.
