LEWISTON — On Friday, July 29,  the Lewiston Public Library will present choreographers JoAnna Mendl Shaw and Carl Flink, who will discuss their upcoming Bates Dance Festival performance involving horses.

Titled “UN/Stable Landscape,” this site-specific dance composition features horses, riders and dancers.

Shaw and Flink will talk about the ongoing collaboration of their two dance companies, The Equus Projects and Black Label Movement. Their unique choreography merges human interactions with horse encounters to create kinetic images that tell a story about the rocky landscape and the humans and horses that live on it.

Two public performances of “UN/Stable Landscape” will be presented  at Chance Encounter Farm in Pownal on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 6-7. For more information on the performance, including directions and ticket information, log on to BatesDanceFestival.org.

The performance preview talk is being presented in conjunction with Art Walk Lewiston-Auburn, which will take place on the last Friday of each month through September.

The free talk will be at 7:30 p.m. in the library’s Callahan Hall. For more information, call 513-3135 or visit LPLOnline.org.
