KINGFIELD — The Carrabassett Valley Outdoor Association; Stanley Museum by Howard Randall, president and managing trustee; and Chris Rushton, broker/Realtor of Keller Williams Realty, are sponsoring partial scholarships to Blueberry Cove’s Island & Sea Discovery Trip.

Sessions are available on July 24 to 29 and Aug. 14 to 19. The cost after the scholarship is $250; the regular price is $500 to $620 depending on household income. Recipients are required to complete a community service project by June 2012 and write a one page essay about how the trip impacted his or her life.

Tanglewood in Lincolnville and Blueberry Cove in Tenants Harbor, programs of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, are encouraging communities to invest in programs designed to get 12- to 16-year-olds outdoors.

Students ages 12 to 16 from Kingfield, Carrabassett Valley or Stratton with an interest in learning about how to live in balance with the earth are eligible; scholarships are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
