Children’s theater
FARMINGTON — The Mt. Blue Music Boosters’ Summer Theater Camp will hold a production of “Something Real,” a tale of diaries and decisions, at 7 p.m. Friday, July 29, and Saturday, July 30, at Trinity Methodist Church. Tickets will be on sale at the door for $4 for children and students, $6 for adults and seniors.
The story follows five junior high students as they are given the assignment to keep a diary of their lives for two weeks. With the encouragement of their teacher Ms. Sims (Anja Nordstrom), they delve into their personal perspectives on life, occasionally echoing each other in ways they would least expect. With the diaries as an outlet to explore their own thoughts, some are driven to act on matters they previously hadn’t dared, making the difficult choice all of us face at one time or another: doing what’s easy, or what’s right.
The two-act play is written by camp director Emily Pottle, a life-long Farmington resident and current UMF student. Thirty-two talented and dedicated local young folk make up this year’s cast, and their two weeks of steady hard work and heart are certain to show through in their performance.
