POLAND — Author, storyteller and radio personality John McDonald will entertain Thursday, Aug. 18, at Cindy’s Dockside, at a fundraiser for A.B. Ricker Memorial Library.
Hailing from a long line of Down East sea captains and storytellers, McDonald has spun yarns professional for more than 25 years.
He has written for the Bangor Daily News, the Portland Press Heral and the Maine Sunday Telegram and writes a syndicated column that appears weekly in many Maine newspapers. His first book, “A Moose and a Lobster Walk into a Bar,” is a collection of his favorite early columns.
McDonald is also the author of “Down The Road A Piece: A Storyteller’s Guide to Maine;” “The Maine Dictionary,” a humorous look at Maine words and phrases; and “Nuthin but Puffins,” published last fall by Downeast Books.
The show will be at 6 p.m. The cost, $37.50 per person, includes salad, entree, nonalcoholic beverages and dessert. A portion of the proceeds will be used by the library to buy a new circulation desk and patron computer table.
For reservations, call Ricker at 998-4390 or send an email to jmesser@rickerlibrary.org. Please reserve and pay by Aug. 12, if possible. Cindy’s Dockside is at 723 Maine St.
