JAY — The Apple Pumpkin Festival Planning Committee will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, at the Crayon Country Developmental Preschool at 455 East Jay Road.

Volunteers from the community — a local organization or a family — are always encouraged. If you would like to be a part of the committee, contact Christine Fournier at 897-4555, Bruce Adams at 897-5367 or the Jay-Livermore-Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce Office at 897-6755.

Families, friends and neighbors will be gathering from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, on the Livermore Falls Recreation Field to celebrate Fall in the Central Androscoggin River Valley.

The Chamber-sponsored Apple Pumpkin Festival will feature a variety of vendors and craft artisans, agricultural products, historical and educational displays, seasonal decorations, antique tractors, raffles and plenty of food all day long.

There will be local musicians entertaining throughout the day — many of your favorites are returning again this year. A local favorite, the Apple and Pumpkin Pie Baking Contest is returning for the third year. The proceeds from this event benefit the Linda Latham Memorial Scholarship Fund. Also returning, is the infamous Tiger Slide, as well as the Bounce House, Rat Race and climbing wall. New festival additions and area events join the fun every year. This year there will be a road race sponsored by the Maine Paper and Heritage Museum.
