DIXFIELD — The Dixfield Historical Society’s annual Festival of Flowers, open to western Maine flower lovers and the visiting public, will be held on Sunday, Aug. 21, in the Dixfield Historical Society’s Charter Meeting Room. Dozens of colorful exhibits ranging from a single flower or stem to large impressive bouquets of wild and garden flowers will fill the exhibition room with colorful natural beauty.
Show judges this year are Ron and Shirley Austin of Dixfield. First-, second- and third-place ribbons will be awarded in the following classes: Bouquet of wild flowers, bouquet of cut garden flowers, houseplant, children’s bouquet, miniature bouquet and single flower or stem in a bud vase. Best of Show and Peoples Choice Awards will also be given.
Entries may be dropped off using the side entrance of the Dixfield Historical Society, 59 Main St., between noon and 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20. Judging will be held between 3 and 6 p.m. at which time the doors will be closed. Entries must be picked up the following day after the Open Market Day events between 3 and 4 p.m.
The society will also be selling used books and sponsoring a food sale. The annual Antiques Road Show has been postponed until the fall.
