- Two gigs for Squid Jiggers The Poland Spring Preservation Society will welcome the Squid Jiggers on Monday, Aug. 15, as a part of its summer concert series. The folk duo, aka Dave Rowe and Troy R. Bennett, took its name from the A.R. Scammell song “Squid Jigging Ground,” a musical depiction of fishing for squid in the waters off Newfoundland. Rowe and Bennett combine vocal harmonies with their talents on guitar, bass, bodhran and tin whistles. Tickets to the 7 p.m. concert at All Souls Chapel are $7.50 at the door and include refreshments. For more information, call 998-4142 or visit www.polandspringps.org. The Squid Jiggers will also perform on Friday night, Aug. 19, at DaVinci’s restaurant in Lewiston during the Great Falls Balloon Festival as a fundraiser for Museum L-A.
