RUMFORD — Hope Association’s Back to School Fashion Show will be Friday, Aug. 19, at 85 Lincoln Ave.
Doors open to the public at 11:30. All clothes modeled are donations to the What Not Shop from generous community members.
School open house
RUMFORD — Holy Savior Catholic School will hold its preschool open house Tuesday, Aug. 23, for parents and children ages 3-6. Free play in the classrooms will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. with a presentation and Q&A session starting at 6.

Dempsey workshop
RUMFORD — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing and Rumford Hospital are offering a free communication workshop for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. “Communicating Difficult Feelings, Needs and Concerns with Your Partner” will take place from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at Rumford Hospital, Classroom C.
Sometimes it can be difficult to have open dialogue with your loved one. Presenter Emily Ecker, Dempsey Center oncology social worker, will discuss ways to navigate challenging conversations.
