Motorcycle run
AUBURN — The Dirigo Fraternal Order of Eagles #618 of Lewiston will host the first annual “Support Our Own” Motorcycle Run at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the New Auburn Social Club, 7 Second St.
The event is open to the public. Cost for the ride is a donation of one item to the cause. Breakfast will be held at the Social Club from 10 to 11 a.m. Riders will depart at 11:30 a.m. with stops at the New Gloucester Eagles, the Windham Eagles, the Gray American Legion and the Past Time Club. The ride ends at the Lewiston Eagles at 5 p.m. where there will be a pig roast free to the riders and $5 for non-riders with music from the live band 4Play.
Items acceptable for donation include disposable razors, shaving cream, toothpaste, tooth brushes, deodorant, soap, tampons, etc. No aerosol cans are permitted. Any cash donations for the project will be used to buy additional supplies.
The Dirigo Eagles has maintained a presence in the Lewiston community since 1904 and currently hosts nearly 500 Aerie members.

Swing for Kids
AUBURN — The first Swing for Kids Men’s Softball Tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, on the Auburn Rec. Department fields. This tournament is for lower level men’s teams only. There is a $225 entry fee. The proceeds will benefit youth athletic programming. Register by Thursday, Aug. 18, at 4:30 p.m. Return the entry fee and roster to Auburn Parks & Recreational Dept., 48 Pettengill Park Rd., Auburn, ME 04210.
There will also be a home run derby held at 6 p.m. for a registration fee of $20 per person.

Noontime concert
AUBURN — On Thursday, Aug. 18, L/A Arts will hold their last free Sounds of Summer Noontime Concert at Festival Plaza. The season ends with a “bang” when Auburn’s own steel drum orchestra, Tinpanic, plays beginning at noon.
Known to bring audiences to their feet with high-energy calypso rhythms and a big band sound, Tinpanic’s crowd-pleasing repertoire includes swing and pop favorites, along with the island party music for which the steel pan is popularly recognized. Parking for concerts held at Fountain Park is in the Chestnut Street garage.

Budget eating
LEWISTON — “Eating Healthy on a Budget” will be the topic of a presentation set for the Aug. 18 meeting of the Central and Western Maine ICD Support Group.
Registered dietitian Meg Ploss will discuss why a healthy diet doesn’t have to be an expensive diet.
The Central and Western Maine ICD Support Group is for individuals who have an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator. Family members and other support persons are also welcomed to attend.
The meeting will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute first-floor conference room.
The program is being offered free of charge.

DURHAM — AMVET Post 13, 1049 Royalsborough Road, will hold an All-You-Can-Eat Friday Night Fish Fry from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19. Kindling Stone
NEW GLOUCESTER — The vocal and instrumental group of three called Kindling Stone will perform at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26, at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19.

Ballin for cancer
AUBURN — Turner’s Classic will present “Ballin For Breast Cancer,” a co-ed three on three basketball tournament on Saturday, Aug. 27, at “The Gully” on Chestnut Street. The cost is $25 per player with a $300 cash prize to the winner.
